Holocaust Memorial Day 2022

January 27 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Holocaust Memorial Day will be taking place on Zoom on 27/01/2022 from 10am to 11am.

Followed by a tree planting ceremony at Lister Park at 12pm.

Online Event

This year’s event has been organised in partnership with trustees from Bradford Reform synagogue and will be hosted by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Shabir Hussain. Building on the collaboration we have been leading on with the other four West Yorkshire authorities for civic memorials, this year we have produced a video message from the leaders in settings showcasing landmarks for the Jewish Community.

This theme this year is One Day. The meaning of One Day is that we put aside to come together to remember, to learn about the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, in the hope that there may be One Day in the future with no genocide. We learn more about the past, we empathise with others today, and we take action for a better future.

Lister Park Tree Planting

At 12pm on Thursday January 27th, 2022 a tree will be planted near Cartwright Hall in Lister Park. to celebrate 80 years of the AJR – the Association of Jewish Refugees.

The tree being planted is part of a ceremony for 80 trees for 80 years of the AJR across the UK.

All are welcome!
