South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month – to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories, and communities,and to explore the connections between South Asian communities and the UK. Srebrenica Memorial Day

Srebrenica Memorial Day -commemorates the Srebrenica massacre which occurred in July 1995 during the Bosnian war. Around 8,000 men and boys of a Muslim Bosniak background were killed by forces of the Bosnian Serb army. https://srebrenica.org.uk/

Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day – is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

National Windrush Day

National Windrush Day (although can be celebrated anytime of the year) – This marks the day when, in 1948, over 490 people from the Caribbean arrived in England to start new lives in the United Kingdom. In the subsequent years, Britain invited many people from across the British Empire. On this day, we pay our respects to the important contribution these people and their children have made to Britain.

Humanist Day

Humanist Day – is an opportunity for humanists and humanist organisations to publicise the positive values of Humanism and to share the global concerns of the Humanist movement.

World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day – is a global observance that seeks to raise awareness and show support for the millions of refugees worldwide who flee conflict, persecution, and hardship in search of safety and dignity.

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha (Muslim – Can change a day earlier or later due to the sighting of the moon) – One of the holiest days in Islam, Eid al-Adha commemorates Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice his son for God, marked by prayers, charity, and community gatherings.
