International days of recognition

International Day of Women and Girls in Science – A day to recognize and celebrate the critical role women and girls play in science and technology, aiming for greater equity in these fields.

Rosa Parks Day (although in the UK can be marked at any time)- to commemorate Rosa and the impact that she had on the Civil Rights Movement. Schools and universities will spend this day teaching students who she was and why she was an important figure when it came to the rights of Black Americans.

World Hijab Day – is in recognition of millions of Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab and live a life of modesty

World Interfaith Harmony Week – as a way to promote harmony between all people regardless of their faith

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day – A day to honour civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and to reflect on the ongoing fight for racial equality in America.

World Braille Day – is a day to raise awareness of the importance of braille in helping blind and partially sighted people communicate.
